Frankie Shaw and Raven Goodwin star in the fifth episode of the first season of SMILF. Shaw plays the lead role of Bridgette Bird, a young single mother struggling to make ends meet in South Boston. Goodwin plays Nelson, a young girl in Bridgette's neighborhood who is struggling with her own family issues. In this episode, Bridgette attempts to help Nelson by offering her a job at the local diner. However, Nelson's mother is not pleased with the idea and creates a rift between the two. Despite their differences, Bridgette and Nelson eventually become friends and learn to look out for one another. In the end, the two come to understand that they can rely on each other despite their differences.
